There have been a lot of tragedies lately. Families have lost loved ones, received horrible diagnoses and so much more. It has been heartbreaking to watch and has brought up so many memories.
Just a few weeks ago a young woman who I went to high school with was killed by a drunk driver. She was 8 months pregnant with her second child, who was also killed. Her husband and young daughter now have to figure out how to get on without her.
Now just last week the husband of one of our sponsors suddenly passed away in a drowning accident. He left behind his wife and daughters and hundreds more who will feel his absence.
My heart breaks especially hard for these families because we have been there. Our own tragedy began in July 2012 when our 4 month old daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. The tragedy only became greater when our precious girl passed away at 20 months old.
Life can change in a split second. All it takes is one day, one moment to change the entire course of your family’s future. I full believe that God is always in control and even when the worst possible happens, he somehow brings us through it and makes us better. But knowing that doesn’t make it any easier when the tragedy is fresh and you are the one living through it.
Enjoy your family today. Love them. Pray for them. Tell them the things that are on your heart. Because tomorrow is never promised, no matter who you are.
