This week brought on another big loss for our family… the death of our beloved dog, Daisy. Her loss has caused a much deeper sadness then I ever anticipated experiencing, despite the fact that she was of course a dear member of our family.

Brett and I have had Daisy through everything. She was with us when we got engaged, married, moved states, got pregnant, had our twins, lost Olivia, moved to Casper, had Landon, and everything in between. Her sudden loss hit us between the eyes. It was also a reminder of the huge loss we suffered when we lost our sweet Olivia to brain cancer.

Yesterday afternoon we were once again sitting in a doctor’s office waiting on test results. We were told that there was nothing more to be done and she was going to die sooner than later. A short time later we held her tight while she passed away from this world. The whole experience was eerily similar to the loss of our precious daughter just 2 years earlier.

Daisy was a mother hen of a dog. She was never farther than a few feet away from our kids, and she had a particular fondness for Olivia. They both had a sweet spirit and a deep love for others. Now they are reunited in Heaven above to play outside of their disease-riddled bodies.

The loss of Daisy also left to explain to Wyatt why his doggy wasn’t going to be coming back from the vet. At 3 years old he has already had way too much experience with death. We’ve also had to comfort our other dog, Willy, who is suddenly without his partner in crime. It’s a lot of loss within a few short years.

Once again we are left behind with just a little more sadness hanging over us, but the sweet reminder that God is in control and He will bring us through it.
