A New Normal

Our family has had to work through difficult transitions countless times over the years. And each one is uniquely hard on all of us.

I will never forget the feeling of trying to re-establish our family after Olivia died. We went from a family of four to a family of three in moments. Wyatt lost his sister and we lost our only daughter. It was heartbreaking.

I remember sitting with Wyatt at bedtime each night trying to reassure him that not everything had changed. That he still had his mom and dad and that we both loved him so deeply.

Then another transition happened when our littlest, Landon, arrived just over a year after Olivia passed away. It was such a joyous time, but it still caused a big shift in our family dynamic that required some adjustments.

Now our family is in the midst of discovering yet another new normal. The years have taken their toll and we are all figuring out what this latest transition will look like. I am working full time now and both boys are in preschool 5 days a week. We are discovering a new balance that is beginning to work quite beautifully for our little family.

Each time we have to find a new normal I always find that God brings us through. As long as we lean on Him through the process I know with all my heart that even the toughest seasons can turn into the most beautiful story.
