The common consensus seems to be that 2016 was a tough year. There were serious hardships. Down economies. Trials. And a lot of grief. This sentiment rings true for our family too. 2016 was a tough one.
As 2017 kicks off I am ready to leave the past year behind. While 2016 brought forth a lot of changes for the good and some truly amazing progress for the Olivia Caldwell Foundation, it was also one of the most difficult years I’ve ever experienced. And that says a lot considering 2012 and 2013 brought forth a cancer diagnosis in our 4 month old and our daughter’s passing.
It is my greatest prayer that 2017 will be a year for change. A year when finding a cure for these horrific diseases becomes more than a dream. A year when more people are no longer just sorry but become active towards creating real change. A year when we choose to love one another.
If you are looking for ways to get involved in 2017, your opportunities are endless. Find a cause you are passionate about and get involved. Donate. Volunteer. Become a Board Member for a reputable organization. Fundraise. Do something. You will not be sorry. There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing your hard work yield amazing, life-changing results.
The Olivia Caldwell Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit that raises money for pediatric cancer research in memory of Olivia Caldwell, who passed away from brain cancer at 20 months old in October 2013. You can learn more, donate and sign up as a volunteer by visiting www.oliviacaldwellfoundation.org.
